For organizations looking to create scalable customer-facing Internet Web sites or private secure extranet sites using the full Enterprise capabilities of SharePoint Server 2010.

(formerly Windows SharePoint Services) For smaller organizations or departments looking for a low-cost entry-level or pilot solution for secure, Web-based collaboration. Provides the underlying infrastructure for SharePoint Server. Please note: Requires Windows Server 2008. The essential starting point for smaller organizations that want a low cost enter-point.  

Search Server 2010 Express (free)

For organizations that have tactical, low scale search applications and want quick, basic projects requiring little cost and IT effort.
